CoWare KK Becomes Value-added Reseller of Agility's MATLAB-to-C Solutions in Japan

CoWare KK to Sell and Support Complete Solution for Integrating Accelerated MATLAB Models with CoWare ESL 2.0 Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif. & PALO ALTO, Calif. –– May 13, 2008 –– CoWare®, Inc., the leading supplier of platform-driven electronic system-level (ESL) design software and services, and Agility Design Solutions, Inc., a technology innovator that accelerates signal processing algorithm design, verification and implementation, today announced that a value-added reseller agreement has been established between the two companies in Japan. The agreement gives Agility Japan KK the added advantage of the CoWare sales channel to accelerate market entry for their MATLAB- to-C products. For CoWare KK, it adds a high-performance, high-productivity solution for customers using MATLAB. CoWare will offer integration support for accelerated C models generated by Agility’s RMS and MCS products into the entire range of CoWare’s ESL 2.0 solutions.

“Many of our customers are using MATLAB for algorithm (prototyping/definition) and they want better integration into an ESL flow and higher performance simulation,” said Nobuyuki Imamura, president of CoWare KK. “With the integration of Agility’s RMS and MCS products, CoWare is the first ESL vendor to offer an integrated solution for these customers.”

“Agility is excited about having a strong channel partner like CoWare,” said Dr. Stephen Chappell, general manager of Agility Japan KK. “The value-added integration with CoWare’s ESL 2.0 solutions extends the reach of our products in Japan and will enable both companies to better serve our customers. We expect that a number of CoWare ESL customers will also benefit from Agility’s fast C-to-FPGA implementation solutions and look forward to working together on these opportunities.”

Unique Advantages of Joint Solution
C models generated from MATLAB will efficiently run inside CoWare Signal Processing Designer, increasing the simulation performance by more than 3X in typical cases for the entire DSP system explored. This is in comparison to traditional co-simulation running the interpreted MATLAB  model using the MATLAB engine. This is relevant particularly in new, complex wireless standards such as the 3GPP Long-Term Evolution (LTE) standard, where many design teams are now transitioning from research in MATLAB to production design efforts.

Complex architectures for consumer applications in the video processing market are developed using CoWare’s architecture design solution today. CoWare customers will now be able to take advantage of the Agility technology to include MATLAB models inside virtual hardware platforms modeled in SystemC. A C model generated by Agility’s MCS product can be integrated inside CoWare Platform Architect using standard, SystemC interface methodologies.

Availability and Pricing
Agility’s RMS and MCS products are available now from CoWare in Japan. For pricing details, Japanese customers should contact the CoWare K.K. office. For general information about the integrated solution, please contact the CoWare sales office nearest you.
